The Toronto Centre for the Arts (formerly the Ford Centre for Performing Arts) opened in 1993 as the "North York Centre for the Performing Arts". It is conveniently located on the TTC Yonge subway line, (North York Centre or Sheppard stops) and is close to Highway 401 and Yonge Street, with convenient parking in the surrounding area.
The palatial centre houses three theatres: the George Weston Recital Hall, a multi-purpose 250-seat studio theatre and the magnificent Main Stage Theatre. Designed for lavish musicals and theatre productions, the Main Stage Theatre has 1,850 seats. The slightly more intimate 1036-seat George Weston Recital Hall has an annual concert season that features some of the world's best international singers and musicians.
With its excellent acoustics, the hall is a great place to hear the opera, classical, jazz, klezmer and Celtic music stars that grace its stage.
The facility also rents out its lobby, piano lounge, VIP suites, and rehearsal hall.
